New SIGCHI Initiatives

Report from SIGCHI Vice President.

The Vice Chair is working on three key items for our SIGCHI members:
1) we are attempting to make all of the CHI conference videos available online for teaching and reviewing purposes. Today, many of these videos are available courtesy of the Univ. of Maryland's HCI Lab at the Open Video website, (http://www.open-video.org/collection_detail.php?cid=8 ) but we intend to link to them from the main SIGCHI web page as well.

2) we are also trying to establish a registry for anyone interested in volunteering in SIGCHI activities. Please e-mail either Mary Czerwinski or Julie Jacko if you are interested in becoming more active in the SIGCHI community. Soon there will be a volunteers' website, similar to the websites we use to gather info from those interested in reviewing CHI papers, where volunteers can sign up for specific activities in SIGCHI.

3) we are redesigning the SIGCHI website and adding much needed functionality, such as the volunteering and video aspects mentioned above. If you have ideas for SIGCHI website design, we'd love to hear about your requests. We need to hear from our membership as to what the principle components of a redesigned SIGCHI website should be.
