Two new SIGCHI Initiatives
Vice Chair Mary Czerwinski discusses two new initiatives regarding speakers and organizational outreach.
I am just starting to head up two new initiatives and I
would appreciate help and input from our greater community on both of
them.
Recommended Speakers Committtee
Firstly, we want to put together a committee of volunteers that would help SIGCHI create a list of “recommended speakers” in the area of HCI. The committee would not be picking out who will be on the speakers list per se, but will work together to identify objective criteria that could be used to create such a list. Ideas, comments and volunteer assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Professional Organization Outreach
Secondly, we would like to broaden our communication, goals and planning beyond SIGCHI to related professional organizations, such as HFES (Human Factors and the Ergonomic Society), UPA (Usability Professionals Association), and SIGHCI (the HCI branch of Management and Information Sciences Society). As part of this outreach, we need to first put together a list of professional organizations with whom we should be communicating. If you know of a professional organization that shares overlapping goals with SIGCHI, please let me know! (marycz@microsoft.com)
